Scraps!

(1/1)

Josey:
Well, anybody who scrapbooks knows that one of best ways to save $$$ is to make use of all your scraps.  I use mine a lot and challenge myself to make layouts using all scraps from time to time.  They are also great for cards.  My question for you today though, is how do you store your scraps?  Do you have a great system that keeps them readily available?

maddawg:
I follow the Ashli over at purplemailbox - I have them in paperholders by size - papers 12x6 or in that range go in one. Anything less than that goes in another. I had them all in hanging folders my mfg and it was a PIA and I never really looked. Now that I redesigned them along with how I store my regular pattern paper which is in a box that holds most all of them and I flip through them to see what matches what when I'm putting a page together.

Sometimes I'll just go through the scraps and then line up the base page. C/S is still in hanging folders by color. It's easier that way.

I've been using this system for 8 years and I love it.  I am up to 2 crates and recently put all cardstock in one and all pp in the other, but wither way, its the first thing I pull.

Josey:
Cool, I like that!  I have a kind of accordian expandable file thingy that I won for hosting a CM party and that's what I use.  I have all the card stock sorted by color and a couple of pockets for the patterned stuff - seems to work well for me  :)

I sometimes have to challenge myself to only use scraps.  I'm amazed at how much paper I have.
I brought home a display rack from work that will be perfect for storing papers.  (I just have to modify it a bit.  Including paint it as it's a very dark green right now.  It once housed moulding blocks.)
