Best Biscuits Ever
• 2-1/4 c. self rising flour
• 2 tbs. sugar
• 1 stick real unsalted butter
• 1 egg
• 2/3 c. milk
• pinch salt
1. Cut butter up into pea sized pieces, toss with a little flour(to prevent sticking) and place into freezer for 1 hour or more.
2. Combine flour, sugar and salt.
3. Add cold butter to flour.
4. Gently stir in beaten egg and milk. Stir just until combined.
5. Pour dough onto a floured surface, sprinkle with flour and press out about 1" thick.(Do not knead or over work)
6. Cut out and place in a greased pan.
7. Place in freezer until ready to bake.(keeping that butter cold is the key to flakiness)
8. Brush tops with butter.
9. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
10. Brush with butter again.
